Standalone Server Station for AR Experiences

From prototype to small series – development of a self-sufficient server station

The possibilities of augmented or mixed reality are manifold, as are the pitfalls and shortcomings – the dependency on a stable internet connection, the enormous amounts of data, the energy consumption for computing power, etc.

To solve at least some of these problems, we have developed an intelligent, ecological and sustainable hardware system.
The world converter is a physical data vault. It runs independently of the power grid and can enable augmented reality experiences anywhere – be it in a city or in a completely remote location, in the middle of a forest or on top of a mountain.

Six variants have been developed in collaboration with the Technical University of Karlsruhe, and the first model will be developed into a small series and installed at the Wilhelmsburg in Ulm as the first location.

„In a playful way, it creates a reference to the energy consumption caused by the increasing digitalization; at the same time, the self-sufficient server is also a model for GreenIt – a climate-neutral and sustainable network – that provides the tour data locally for automatic download within the app and even loads their smartphones if necessary.“
